Veselica Ensemble and Veselička Children’s Ensemble Performance

Veselička Children's Ensemble Performance

Veselica  Ensemble and Veselička Children’s Ensemble, based in Chicago, will perform at NCSML May 2 at 10:30 a.m. in Rozek Grand Hall.

Veselička Children's EnsembleThe Veselička children’s folk ensemble is part of a broader partnership with the Veselica Slovak Cultural Organization and the Slovak Academy of Chicago, working together to preserve and promote Slovak culture in Chicago. Through this collaboration, families are able to stay connected to their heritage while building a strong sense of community.

Within this partnership, each group plays a distinct role. The Slovak Academy of Chicago provides language instruction and cultural education, helping students develop a deeper understanding of Slovak history and identity. Veselička, the children’s ensemble, introduces young members to Slovak traditions through dance and music. Veselica builds on this foundation through performances, music, and community engagement that bring Slovak folklore to life.

Together, Veselica and Veselička include over 60 members: dancers, singers, musicians, and feature their own cimbalom orchestra. Their repertoire highlights traditional performances from regions across Slovakia, including Liptov, Horehronie, Spiš, Šariš, Zemplín, and Goralské areas.

Through their combined efforts, these organizations foster cultural pride, strengthen community bonds, and play a vital role in preserving Slovak language, music, dance, and traditions for future generations.
