Learn the basics of scroll sawing from local woodworker John Sandor! Have you ever wondered what it’s like to use a scroll saw? Are you looking for a new hobby? Do you like to create? Even if you’ve never worked with wood before, this workshop is for you.
This workshop for beginners will include: learning the difference between various types of scroll saws, helpful tips for using these saws, examples of styles of woodworking that can be done using the scroll saw, safety basics, and a chance to try your hand at using a scroll saw. Participants will each create a small piece to take home. An assortment of patterns will also be provided.
John S. Sandor is an artist based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. His grandparents immigrated to the United States from Czechoslovakia in 1905. John’s father and grandfather were both woodworkers. He started learning the craft in 1999 and focused primarily on intarsia designs. John began creating beautiful wood pieces using the scroll saw in 2005. He enjoys sharing his expertise with others.
Pre-registration is required. Ages 16+.
$35 per person; materials and snack included.
