Free First Saturdays for Students: Ride of the Kings
May 5, 2018 @ 9:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Cost: Free for students, regular admission for non-students
Activity: Make paper flowers and other colorful decorations to adorn the NCSML’s “horse.”*
On Pentecost—the 50th day after Easter—in some Moravian towns they will celebrate with a large festival and parade called the Ride of the Kings. The men and boys of the town come together to decorate their horses with paper flowers and ribbon for the young men to ride around the village. Gallop over to the museum for this Free First Saturday for Students to help decorate our “horse”* and learn more about this tradition. Students of all ages are invited to visit the NCSML’s exhibits for free on the first Saturday of every month.
Sponsored by United Fire Group. Contributing sponsors: Katherine & Ludvik Svoboda.
*There will not be a real horse. ☺
