Veselička Children’s Ensemble, based in Chicago, will perform at NCSML May 3 at 10:30 a.m. in Rozek Grand Hall.
About the Group: Veselička Children’s Ensemble offers a unique opportunity for children in Chicago to connect with their Slovak heritage through dance, music, and cultural education. As part of the Slovak Academy of Chicago, which currently has 70 students, Veselička provides a supportive environment where children ages 4 through 14 can engage with the Slovak language, traditions, and history while making lasting friendships. The ensemble, with 30 members, enriches this cultural experience by focusing on Slovak folklore, showcasing traditional songs and dances from various Slovak regions.
In collaboration with the Slovak Academy of Chicago and Veselica Slovak Cultural Organization, Veselička fosters a vibrant space where families can celebrate their roots, embrace their heritage, and pass on valuable cultural traditions to the next generation. Together, these organizations play a vital role in preserving and promoting Slovak language, folklore, and cultural identity in Chicago’s Slovak community.
