Czechs and Slovaks in the United States: A Sociodemographic Snapshot

Who and where are Czech and Slovak immigrants and descendants in America today? We will examine geographic, demographic, social, and economic characteristics of these populations using data from the U.S. Census. We will also compare these groups to the overall US-born and foreign-born populations. Come learn about the current status of Czech and Slovak-Americans and discuss implications for the future.

Presenters:

Miriam Potocky Rafaidus, Ph.D., is Professor in the School of Social Work, Florida International University, and Director of its Initiative on Forced Migration. She is an internationally-recognized expert on refugee resettlement.

David Rafaidus, M.U.R.P., is a Senior Health Planner in the Department of Community Services, Palm Beach County, Florida, and an expert on demographic and geographic analyses.
