Emil Viklický Trio in Concert (Oak Park, IL)

Join us for an evening of lively Moravian jazz by world-class pianist Emil Viklický! He will be joined by Petr Dvorský on bass and Cyril Zeleňák on drums. The trio has performed worldwide to critical acclaim. The Emil Viklický Trio maintains a truly distinctive style while merging the melodies and tones of Moravian folk music with classical and modern jazz harmonies.
Emil Viklicky is both a jazz and contemporary composer. In 2004, he was commissioned to write The Mystery of Man, an operatic piece based on the prison letters of Czech President Václav Havel. Viklický has also focused extensively on composing scores and incidental music for feature films and television. In 2011, he was awarded the Medal of Merit by his native country.
Emil Viklicky is one of those European jazz pianists who successfully incorporated elements of his indigenous folk culture into jazz. -Euan Dixon, Jazz Views
… Viklicky himself is a wonderfully lyrical yet robust pianist, his playing packed with dynamic and textural subtleties… –Chris Parker, The Times, London
