Immigrant Foodways: ‘Kraut it out loud’ Sauerkraut Making Class

Sauerkraut can be found in many Czech and Slovak dishes and is favorite among many other cultural groups. Before we had refrigeration, people needed to find ways to make produce last into the long winters or out on trips and pickling and canning was a good way of doing just that. Join us in learning how to make this beloved food with Leslie Baumhoefener. Leslie and her husband John own and run Baumhoefener Nursery and the Red Barn Market. Leslie will be providing plenty of cabbage, so there is no need to bring your own.
