Red Cedar Chamber Music: Czech Strings
October 15, 2017 @ 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM
$10 – $20Fresh off a highly successful first season as Red Cedar’s core ensemble and Directors, violinist Miera Kim and cellist Carey Bostian bring you a powerful Czech-inspired program. But watch out – not everything is what it seems. Czech composer Bohuslav Martinů’s Duo No. 2 sounds distinctly American, Warren Gooch’s Three Fauxmanian Dances live up to their name, and Bohemian born Antoine Kraft’s duo sounds a lot like Haydn. Czech enthusiasts will hear a great Furiant by Otakar Ševčík as well as a wonderful set of Czech folk songs arranged by Iowa composer Harvey Sollberger.
This program honors Red Cedar’s long relationship with the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library with works celebrating Czech music and culture. A light reception to follow.
Join Red Cedar Chamber Music at the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library on Sunday, October 15 at 3:00pm for an afternoon of Czech music! Doors to the concert space open at 2:30pm.
Visit RedCedar.org for additional performances and more information about the musicians and the entire CzechStrings concert series schedule.
