I am continually impressed at how significant a role our Skala Bartizal Library plays in creating and cultivating relationships with individuals, organizations, and associations around the country, and the world! An email exchange between the editor of a newsletter and our library director, Dave Muhlena, led to my chance to visit the library of the Texas Czech Heritage Society—Harris County. Not only did that email exchange lead to my visit and involved conversation about a possible donation of materials and artifacts, but it also helped new friends in that Czech organization see how sincere the NCSML is about fostering national relationships for common purposes. As luck would have it, I also ran into Brian Vanicek, the honorary consul in Texas for Czech Republic while there; it is always nice to see our consuls!
